From October 12-16, Buffalo is going to experience a cocktail festival featuring some of the hardest hitters in the craft cocktail scene: Nickel City Drink. Founding members include: Buffalo Proper, Vera, Marble + Rye, Mes Que, Toutant and of course, lloyd.
What do we all have in common?
A love for making great cocktails from scratch. Each bar differs in their approach, but the tale remains the same: using incredible ingredients to make incredible cocktails.
The Rundown
Each bar will be hosting educational classes for the serious bartender, bar takeovers from liquor reps boasting their spirits, dinners & themed parties, because, after all, it SHOULD be a week-long party.
The craft cocktail scene in Buffalo grows by the DAY! We’ve gotta give props to Vera for getting things started years ago, and we’re just happy to be apart of what we hope will become a yearly tradition

- “The Wonderful World of Agave”

What: Adam Schuman from Skurnik Wines and Spirits will be educating Agave lovers on all the different varietals that are used in making Mezcal. Get a chance to sample some of the rarest spirits available to us. By the end of it, you’ll be an Agave all-star. Munchies provided.

2. “Taste and Tipple with Mayahuel”

What: Join us for a 5-course dinner and cocktail pairings with rare mezcal tastings from El Jolgorio, Real Minero, Nuestra Soledad and Agave de Cortes. We’ll take you into the mysterious “Inventing” room of the Taco Factory for a private tour of tortilla production. Introduce yourself to your new favorite word, “nixtamalization”, an age old Aztec process we use to create our corn tortillas from scratch.

What: Come and learn about everyone’s favorite cocktail, the margarita. It’s one of the most popular drinks on the planet, yet most consumed today bear little resemblance to the original. This classic cocktail has been bastardized so much that an entire neon green mixer industry has sprouted up in the name of making the margarita “easier.” However, the traditional way is almost fool proof! We will discuss history, demonstrate proper hands on technique and taste some proper variations.
