Victorious in his November 7th cooking competition against two other Western New York chefs, Lloyd’s own Chef Teddy Bryant will battle Chef DJ Cook of Sample in the December 2, 2012 finale of Nickel City Firing Line.
In November’s Match 1, Teddy’s Market Basket Challenge dish was deemed the most technically perfect, creative, and delicious meal by the judges. And a challenge it was! The secret ingredients in Teddy’s kitchen were ground pork, celeriac (a root vegetable in the celery family), kale, and bonito flakes (flakes of dried, smoked bonito fish, popular in Japanese cuisine).
During Sunday’s finale, both competitors will face another Market Basket Challenge with secret ingredients to be used in a single dish prepared in just 40 minutes. The second round will feature a surprise single ingredient to be used in a dessert, which the chefs will have 20 minutes to prepare. Both meals will be critiqued by a panel of judges, including food writers Julia Burke and Andrew Galarneau, and Chef Steven Gedra of Bistro Europa.
The match will take place in front of a live audience at Artisan Kitchens & Baths at 2:30 PM. Lloyd fans are invited to come and cheer for Teddy. Please wear your Lloyd tees and feel free to make signs! Tickets are $32 and might sell out before Sunday; for details visit http://nickelcitychef.com/
